first row. The gentleman seen at the rear, center, of the photo may possibly
be Prof. William H. Kretchman.
The teacher at the Shaw Mines School (Vim) in 1898 was C. M. Christner,
and is possibly pictured here on the right. Monthly teachers' salaries
in the Meyersdale area at that time ranged from $30 to $45. (Source: Meyersdale
